Lag and Swallowed Commands
Is anyone else experiencing this?

Maybe it's on my end. I can't say for sure. I have experienced this on a couple of different networks though. So I guess I'm curious to know if I'm alone in this.

For months now I've been experiencing very frequent but not quite constant lag. Nothing major. Just greater than normal delays that are unpredictable in duration but always fairly short.

I've also noticed commands being swallowed - especially in movement. Where I enter something line 'e' but nothing happens. I don't get the message saying I'm already moving. Just nothing.

This, combined with the near constant and unpredictable lag has made it far more difficult for me to be precise with my character.

If I assume the command was swallowed and just wait, then I sit there for a while then eventually have to enter the movement command again. If I assume the command was swallowed and enter the movement command again, sometimes I end up moving more than intended.

It's really quite strange and mostly not a huge deal but when my character is being chased or chasing someone, it become problematic.

Again, I am not assuming this is all on the MOO. And if it is, I am not sure if anything can be done. So really, I just want to start with sharing my experience and seeing if it IS just me or if there really is a wider spread issue.

It is the MOO. Not just you.

Movement lag is horrible and common. I have had characters end up in the vats because I was "patient" when movement inputs got swallowed.

These days if I don't get a response in 2-3 seconds I will do two

stop w

stop w

Then input the movement comment again.

FWIW I have noticed that "go direction" instead of just "direction" seems more predictable. It doesn't always work. But it seems to fail less than than not using "go".
