Sex Cougar Energy Explodes Into Withmore

Is It Keeping Citizens Alive?

The citywide obsession with Sex Cougar Energy has officially reached a fever pitch, and SIC network chatter shows no signs of slowing. Tucked away inside the recently reopened Okey Dokey Karaoke Bar, the city's sole vending machine for this Japanese imported drink continues to draw steady lines for the long and skinny aluminum can featuring a cougar prowling through the jungle.

What sets the drink apart from typical high stimulant beverages is its surprisingly unusual taste. It opens with a swanky sangria flavor of red wine and fruit, then follows with a strange fizzy tang that seems to deliver an immediate jolt of energy, powered by a heavy payload of caffeine.

Public SIC has been flooded with citizens sharing their experiences with the energy drink. SIC user Sulfar admitted to being pleasantly surprised, stating, "Ah thought it was gonna be merzky but it actually taste like summer fruits." Meanwhile, Doctor6 simply called the beverage "glorious!" and another user, Sugar3, claimed the drink "fills me with the energy I need to vibrate through walls." The obsession has even turned it into a daily necessity for some, such as Chex driver Chex-Kra who reassured Withmore citizens after a rough night that they were "Feelin' a bit shite. Probably not enough Sex Cougar. Ahm not dead!"

One should be warned that the drink's delicious taste and high potency have medical workers across local clinics raising alarms. Because Sex Cougar Energy tastes so much like a pleasant middle-aged woman's brunch beverage, consumers frequently drink multiple cans in a single sitting without realizing exactly how much caffeine they are taking in, leading to a noticeable rise in heart palpitations and severe dehydrations. While no deaths have been reported from these symptoms, citizens across Withmore are advised to pay attention to them should they arise, and to slow down consumption and introduce water into their drinking routine.

Since Okey Dokey's reopening, this reporter has observed discussion of Sex Cougar Energy nearly every hour of every day and the trend seems only to keep growing. Despite medical warnings, the Jihanki Galleria inside the karaoke bar remains one of the most active destinations in Central Gold Sector.

How Many Have to Die?

Before this gets boring...

I'm really fucking tired of writing about people being horrible.

Someone I'm not going to name, because a person who does stupid shit doesn't deserve to get any infamy for said stupid, senseless, violent and horrible shit, murdered a newsie named Conlin then decided to attack NSec. Twice. Ask around, and you'll probably turn up the name. This person seemed to have been well liked, had friends and such, and pulled this entirely out of their ass from seemingly nowhere.

But guess what? Five years from now no one will remember that name.

Which is why the entire situation is a little hard for me to wrap my head around. I'm sorry, but what exactly was the plan here?

People are cruel. People are angry. People are suffering. People decide that whatever is happening inside their own head matters more than the lives of everyone around them. And then somebody else has to clean up the blood. And there is always an excuse. There is always some grand fucking reason why hurting another person was necessary.

Most of the time it is fucking nonsense.

Suicide by corpsec makes you a BAD PERSON. I said it. This wasn't some hero's last hurrah, flipping the bird at their oppressors. This was a motherfucking selfish, thoughtless, and unnecessary act.

This person had better choices. Get some counseling. Talk to friends. Maybe kill yourself quietly if things still feel too bad. There are plenty of ways to do it that don't involve taking other people down with you. Give your weapons away and walk into a fucking suicide booth, its fucking free, asshole.

Conlin didn't ask for this. The NSec agents who responded didn't ask for this. Neither did anyone else who had to deal with the aftermath, including YOUR FUCKING FRIENDS.

Maybe that is what makes me so angry, Withmore.

We live in a city where people can come back from the dead through the miracles of fucking science, and somehow we've decided that that means death doesn't matter anymore.

Well, it does. And cloning doesn't make murder harmless. It doesn't erase the fear, the pain, or the trauma of the people who have to pick up the LITERAL FUCKING PIECES.

Just once, could we try solving a problem without hurting someone?

Just once?

I guess I'm asking a lot. I guess an editorial about this topic is boring. FUCK YOU if you agree.

New Light Media Thwarts Misled Terror Attack

Brave Sacrifice Brings Peace in Troubled Times

My usual Gold routine consists of coffee and long, brisk walks, watching out for whatever fresh lunacy the Dome vomits on my shoes. It was supposed to be a pleasant day, until I noticed the unmistakable ruckus of a mixer who claimed that New Light Media's garage was "Sarz turf". I laughed hard at the magnificence of watching a nobody with nothing announce ownership of someone else's private property, then I realized, this might be my story.

Once on the scene, my suspicions were confirmed. A woman who looked like she was dragged out of a dumpster, beaten up, then thrown back inside was tagging the walls and issuing threats with her heavy bolo machete. Yes, very dramatic. Yes, very Red. Very terrifying if you've never seen a huge knife before. Then NSEC arrived, and I realized the threats were as funny as they were empty.

This pledge, who goes by "G", appeared to be yet another victim of an industry as old as the Dome itself: turning the weak, fresh-faced, and easily impressionable into disposable meat. Find somebody desperate enough to make a name for themselves. Promise them respect. Give them a weapon they can barely hold. Point towards something expensive.

Congratulations! You manufactured your own little revolution.

The attack went from "mild disturbance" to "BALLS-TO-THE-WALL CHAOS" when Vexx, a member of the Sinners street gang, joined Ksenia "Oxiana" Orlova, a criminal associated with their rival gang, the Snakes, and together attacked Junior Agent Frank Murdoch.

Then everything went to hell.

I saw Agent Murdoch fight back with tooth and bone. The defense did not come without sacrifice. Murdoch and two other members of NSEC lost their lives in the fighting, a grim reminder that sometimes, the line of duty stops being a line and becomes a meat grinder.

The Judges arrived and helped secure the perimeter, driving away the surviving terrorists, who fled aboard a HondaMitsu Koi and a Sandfly Aerodyne. So you might be wondering, dear readers, what did this glorious revolutionary offensive accomplish?

The answer is a big, fat, and reassuring "NOTHING". No equipment stolen, no prizes, no triumphant narratives... only a hunger for glory they couldn't sate, leaving empty-handed, licking their wounds, and abandoning two of their own behind. One dead... another alive.

The unfortunate soul left in New Light Media's was Drazen "m0th" Kos, unemployed and unoccupied. I thought that perhaps her alias was just a witty reference to the tasteless biomodifications that left them looking half moth and half human, without quite managing to successfully commit to either. I'll call it: a rough draft from nature that someone approved for production.

When Kos was taken for interrogation, they revealed a shocking truth to us: they had no idea what they were getting into. According to them, they had simply been asked to perform a small task and were assured there would be no consequences.

I repeat: NO CONSEQUENCES!

Somebody apparently convinced a Red-sector moth-person that participating in an armed attack against a megacorporation was roughly as consequential as picking up groceries. This is where this stops being merely another story about mixers making catastrophic life decisions and starts becoming interesting.

It is easy to point fingers at the disposable foot soldiers: Vexx, Orlova, Kos. The harder question is what put these people in the same place, at the same time, and pointed them in the same direction.

How do people who caught the short end of every stick the Dome ever handed out suddenly get access to a Koi and a Sandfly Aerodyne? Who provided transportation? Who coordinated the escape? Who set up a distraction bomb moments before the attack? Who provided cover fire while the others bled?

There may be an answer.

In the aftermath of the attack, a group calling itself "RYE", short for "Remember Your Enemy," claimed responsibility. Little is publicly known about the organization or who, if anyone, leads it. What is known is that RYE has been actively spreading anti-corporate propaganda across the Grid, and now appears eager to attach its name to the bloodshed outside New Light Media.

A claim of responsibility is not proof of orchestration. Any idiot with Grid access can take credit after the bodies hit the pavement. But if RYE truly organized this attack, then the questions become considerably more interesting.

Who recruited the attackers? Who provided transportation? Who coordinated the escape? And who convinced people like Kos that there would be "no consequences" for participating?

And most importantly, who benefits?

Honestly, dear readers? I don't know. But I know several citizens who might otherwise have pursued lives of achievement, productivity, and prosperity instead allowed themselves to be shepherded into somebody else's violence. Somebody promised them purpose, pointed them toward a corporate target, and sent them forward to bleed in vain.

That is the ugly little secret behind every disposable revolutionary. The shepherd watches from a safe distance, preaching revolution while sending his flock to the slaughter.

My gratitude goes to Agent Murdoch, who stood his ground against the terrorists, took two of them down in the process, and sent the survivors fleeing with their tails between their legs. The Withmore Justice Force likewise deserves recognition for their response and assistance.
