Because of how unrealistic it was to miss the carriage when it pulled up in front of your characters face, and the fact that it's a big ooc time sink to stand there and wait, that game introduced a 'wait for carriage' command, which would have your character enter the next one which pulled up. Once on, you could also 'wait to dock' which would have you step off upon arrival.
I know you're not meant to be playing when you're not wholly present and we have an @ooc command for this, but, staring at an often unmoving screen for 20 minutes isn't overly alluring, and if you miss it once because you look away and get captivated by a butterfly for the wrong minute, you're then doubling this, and this command meant it just made things a little less tedious around often oocly monotonous travel time.
If you get complacent enough to look away for long, I'm sure someone will happily bestow themely consequences on you.
