Acoustic Jammer / White Noise Generator
Counter to Listening Cyberware

I was thinking that it might make sense to offer an opportunity / choice to spend money to make the front room of apartments or offices or any location really less susceptible to eavesdropping with some kind of investment in an acoustic jammer or white noise generator that makes it either impossible for conversations to be heard with cyberware or at least cause those conversations to be very broken up or muffled.

Other types of cyberware like the Mindseye seem to have counters, seems like this type of device to counter eaves dropping would also have a place in the game too.

I think it's a type of device that should also be hackable so they can be disabled for a set period of time like security devices.

I think it is important not to tune countermeasures too finely. The game should have a regular churn of low UE characters, and everything that can defeat the struggling up and comer who just got their first piece of gear in favor of the well prepared wealthy oldie makes that churn harder.
I am not sure what this has to do with New characters versus Old characters. I feel like that could go both ways anyway.

It just doesn't make a lot of sense to me to not to be able to deploy countermeasures for something, but it also makes a lot of sense to me to have those countermeasures countered by hacking.

I think that can create a lot more RP for people too, if they have an interest in eavesdropping on a particular person or location. Makes it more involved. I don't think they'd have to be extremely high UE either.
