Afterthoughts in Chatter
Uncover those older messages some

Maybe have bartenders occasionally provide the details needed to pull up an old Afterthoughts recording when asked for chatter. Maybe X months after the character is permed or after X years of inactivity, whichever comes first.

Maybe there's a ten percent chance a random old recording is mentioned each time one successfully asks for the chatter or the like? I think this would help get old stories or there again and help remind players that Afterthoughts is a thing.

After asking for the chatter you might get something like:

I hear there's an interesting Afterthoughts recording under the name Mike Smith. Code's CODE.

Or

I hear there's an interesting Afterthoughts recording under the name Mike Smith. No code even!

I honestly wonder if these aren't cleaned up after a certain period of time. I haven't seen afterthoughts employed much, but when it has, it hasn't exactly been an experience that would encourage me to rifle through old ones.

That said, I do like the idea. I don't know if I would release coded ones. Seems like that would have a realistic chance of dumping paydata.

I get the concern. Maybe have coded ones take much longer before released?

I am pretty sure there are still recordings from at least a decade ago. Could be wrong though.

There recordings from a very, very long time ago. As Grey0 said sometimes decades.

The best way I've seen afterthoughts used is when a PC Name & sometimes password associated with their afterthoughts (which is an option) is shared on their grid node after death.

That said, I think we need some insight on how Staff have visibility into the system and what is an effective workload for them or automatic potential.
