Character art, ingame
Sorry, sightless friends.

How about we add a new group of commands…

@charart me is 'PutLinkHere'
@Charart 'charname'

These would allow ppl to set a link to a character artwork ingame.
The second command would allow people to view said link.

Admins would be able to unset someone's link if it violates rules.

Lemme fix original post… the way I wrote it saw it as some sort of code and it ate 90%.
Kinda defeats the Nakeds doesnt it?
Why would it defeat the nakeds? Not everyone is able to vividly imagine and piece together how a char looks. This would just allow folk to give folk a better impression of how their character actually looks.
This would require moderation I think, same as the grid images issue would. Also, someone is definitely going to get hated on for using AI. Might cause more friction than necessary. I do have a hard time imagining characters personally, all your characters are blobs with hair and sometimes googly eyes with colors if I'm feeling fancy.
Many people would likely put way less effort into @nakeds if they could just link whatever image they spent ten seconds generating. It would also be inaccessible to screen reader users and, in my opinion, immersion-breaking while making things feel more MUSH-y.
IT is possible to make it only accept links from filehosts that already filter NSFW shit out.
Adding a blurb in the rules about what not to post should be fine… and 90% of char art in the char art forums is AI anyway.

Blind folk already miss out in the character art forum. I don't see why that would be an issue to just make viewing it easier.

Putting it directly in game would make people feel like they don't have to describe their character in much detail, since they assume others could just look at the image. It would also make it feel like you have to have a character image.
Regardless of image host, the images could contain any content, including content that could negatively impact the game like IC information or revealing who plays who.

That's never been the case on any of the games I've played on in the past.
This is a text based game. Respect the medium, and respect the visually-impaired members of our community. Use your brain and your imagination. If you can't do that, maybe this game isn't for you.
It would be a better alternative to the character art thread in my opinion. Also telling people to use their brain and their imagination is a bit ignorant and inconsiderate of the people in the community with mental issues that may make it difficult for them to do that.
Just read their description. It's what you're going to have to do anyways especially if someone opts out of OP's idea.

I think a lot of people are kind of looking for shortcuts around reading fine details. I often ask people what someone looked like and the common response is "I'll know them if I see them again" which to me translates to to "I don't know hoss, didn't read their descriptions just know their coded name."

Saying use your brain and your imagination is kind of rude to people with aphantasia or a weak mind's eye (I'm the latter), even worse with ADHD (which I also have). I personally don't see an issue in having this feature, I think it's been suggested in the past. But each to their own. I survive without it but y'all are blobs to me. :X
Even though I do struggle to see characters from descriptions, I'm against this idea ICly. I still want people to describe their characters. I still want people to be included even if they can't see an image for some reason. It's still a text game.

For me, I usually don't see a whole character but I pick out key description bits like hair, tattoos, hands. The more I interact, the more I remember the different bits or see new bits. I still can't imagine the character necessarily but, I at least have some details.
