Coffins

@idea from Lucifer

Since only newbies can use them… why not allow us to put newbies in? It can just run a check on if the target person is a newbie, then ungrapple/unfollow anyone on them, then put the newbie in and we's all good... I mean, not all the newbies know about the coffin, or know not to discon in the middle of nowhere.
.

Hmm, not a bad idea actually… Maybe I'll look at it later. Until then, might I suggest that there's always the option to shove them in a cube at New Rose. Sure, it'll cost you a little, but hey, that's the price of being a nice guy.

Heh, and just as a little anecdote. I recently watched on of our nice helpful regulars round up five street sleeping newbies and put them all into the reletive safety of a New Rose cube. Very nice of him... until a few minutes later when one of the newbies logged on. First thing that little pigfucker typed?
kill Bob
kill Ben
kill James
kill Fred
loot Bob
loot etc...

...so, next time you're thinking of helping the poor innocent newbies...

But rastus your forgeting that I got some good RP outa that heheheh
on Coffins, I'm curious if making it able to choose your own code gonna be available in the near(or not) future? as it's a little annoying when you've got a bad short term memory like me and five minutes after you've rented it can't remember what the code is
Several things… first
Coffins don't require codes... Cubes do.

Secondly, try memory and memorize <text string> it works wonders...

Thirdly... PENCIL AND PAPER!!!

*beats Lujan over the head with a frying pan*

That is all

Indeedy doody, Lucyfoos… memorize and memory... ahh, the features and gizmo's we waste our time coding for you peons...

Anyhows, no, you can't set cube codes. They're not really meant to be permenant residences, hence the reason they are in a hotel and not an apartment building. The lock codes aren't stored by the door in the case of cubes, the doors being 'dumb' terminals linked to a central door 'server'. Makes it easy for the hotel employees to deal with maintenance, unruly guests, roomservice (?) and other such daily routines that would be your own problem in an apartment. (Okay, forget room service, I have no intention of cleaning your stinking cubes...) Anyhow, that's why you can't set cube door codes. And yes... that -is- how it is coded, doors don't have -any- info about the door code stored on them but have a 'link' to a server object which has the power to over-ride all hotel doors, change codes, etc.

Technically this makes it harder for Joe Catburglar to break into your cube, since he can't combo hack the door... but, woe is the entire hotel if he manages to crack the door server and open every door in the hotel...
