Data Storage Chrome

I'm watching Johnny Mnemonic right now and realized it's a little surprising there's no cyberware that lets you store data on your person like that. It seems, to me at least, a pretty good idea for chrome.

There could be an E-Mem port on the neck or head or wherever for data transfers, there could be different sizes of module, different tiers, such as modules where you can't read or write the data at all, read-only modules, and read-write modules… and maybe, like the movie, you'll be able to over-fill them and suffer negative effects as a result of doing so.

Obviously, these modules could be ripped and the data extracted, for when you need to intercept someone's data smuggler. I think with the recent updates to E-Notes and related features, these would be a pretty cool addition.

I thought there is something like that though?
Is there? I thought that was only for reading from external e-mems, not storing it in your brain.
Right, I guess that's what I was thinking of, in which case I'm a little unclear on how what you're describing is different. It's been probably 15+ years since I've seen that movie.
Well, in this case the data would be stored in the character's head. Meaning their chrome itself acts as an E-Mem, rather than just something to read from them.

With different read/write capabilities depending on the tier you get.
