Rewards for good little boys and girls

So I was just recently made aware of Gold Stars and I like that a lot. A little pat on the back can go a long way in this world! I was trying to think of a fun way to use them, even if currently they aren't a currency, and thought how cool would it be if you got to make a unique weapon or item when you get to a certain amount of them?

The item itself would be identical in all functional ways to the standard item, but would just be called something different and would be unique in name and description only.

Pure fun and flavor for well behaved chummers and chummitas.

Examples could be something like: a bolo machete becomes a curved scimitar or an electricians toolbelt becomes a glowing, whirring, neon electricians toolbelt

I want a sticker! Yes please!
rewards are cool and all but would be a little meaningless when they get stolen immediately, so anyone could have them without earning it the intended way
Stealing your stuff is the whole reason to make cool stuff! In my view, the more ways to set up conflict and cooperative competition the better.

Some big bad dude who carries a special blade would be more of a target for the blade itself, and that would raise the intrinsic value of the blade itself, even though it isn't any different from the next bolo mechanics wise.

I would like this but the whole stolen thing renders the reward for good behavior useless. T-T
A creative workaround is @apply goldstar (weapon) to change the description of a weapon, so even if your shit got stolen, you can apply it on another same weapon.
I just don't see the point of people getting rewards just for it to practically become a skin anyway, might as well just add variants of a bunch of weapons since it achieves the same goal, if it's a one time thing then it gets stolen and the reward aspect was pointless, if it could be applied to any weapon that just means there would be like 50 of the same weapon skin making the reward equally pointless
This feels really weird, to me. Treating it like a special game currency to get weapon skins is something more at home with the latest competitive shooter games, not a roleplay intensive environment.
To emphasize batko's point, how would players feel about this if implemented only to find oldbies with max UE characters possessing an overwhelming number of gold stars and largely controlling the marketplace?
if it isn't applied retroactively…
Gold Star are much older than I think everyone realizes.
GOLDSTAR

Admin now have a handy @goldstar person command which will give them a picklist of things to quickly log that a player did, allowing us to have better insight into who is doing things like running great plots, helping on fixit, writing scripts, etc. We think it is important to be noting positive interactions, which sometimes get missed as they seem less critical to log than negative interactions / issues.

Goldstars are a meaningful way for our staff to acknowledge and celebrate the exceptional contributions of players. These acknowledgments are given thoughtfully and are intended to provide positive reinforcement for outstanding roleplay or assisting the staff in some other way. To preserve the authenticity and joy of this recognition, Goldstars are not tied to any incentivized or monetized system. Instead, they serve as a sincere expression of appreciation for your dedication and creativity.
