Grid 4 - Graphics and Photographs
A possible approach

I am no Grid 4 expert. I know very little about it really. But I would love to see pictures and graphics brought into Grid 4 in a way that was more IC. That relied less on 1980's ascii graphics.

The basic idea is to add two components (tags?) to grid notes. One for graphics and one for photographs.

The graphics tag could maybe piggyback on the tattoo system. You define, in words, a brief description of the graphic and a long description. Then when you view a node you see text like:

A graphic of: Short description.

Photographs would piggyback off of the existing camera system. A device like the e-note scanner added for importing the photos to a node. When you use the tag to insert a photograph, you maybe see something like this on the Node:

A photograph of: Name of Photograph

Then maybe add graphics and photographs to the 'g link' command so you can enter their number and get the full detailed description. Possibly, with photographs, add a command like 'g look THING in photograph' that will show you the specified object in the last loaded photograph as if you did 'look thing in photograph'.

This is all a very rough idea and could do with some heavy refinement but I personally would love to see the grid's functionality expanded and more real IC graphics and photos on the grid and less ascii art.

I adore this idea. I would love if we could upload photos to Grid nodes via an e-memory module. And then we could even have password-protected "photo albums" on the grid where solos could share their work with people, or it would be easier to preserve people's artworks, etc.

The only thing I'm unsure about is how the 256 colors in photographs would work alongside the custom grid color themes.
