Hide behind objects
He's right behind that Chex! GET HIM!

Add an additional option to hide behind vehicles or large art installations that would increase your hide but then drastically add your reveal chances if the vehicle moves or maybe if a person looks directly at it.

In practical terms that's just straight up buff to hiding, is it needed?
Hide checks are pretty famously hard to make for younger characters, not only meaty stat rolls but also having to contest everyone present compared to other skills they can pick their battles on, so I could actually see this being an interesting way to make hide more useful early on by giving the defensively minded option of letting characters hide behind things with a bonus against being seen but not being able to take actions that they would be able to when hiding in plain sight.

Basically a stronger hide state you have to manually leave before acting from, maybe cannot even sneak out of it before exiting. It could also give hide more utility for characters not built to purpose for it, and giving characters a defensive way to hide from attackers in place might even encourage less everyone scattering to the wind when something kicks off. Hide behind the bar, hide behind cars in the street, taking cover in general all things that players will pose about but can't really do in practice.

However my feeling is new stealth features are kind of a pipe dream.

Thinking about it further, it might not even require a bonus as long as it required a specific search action, so characters wouldn't be generally revealed in the room just by looking but would need a search behind to find. This would make it super useful for hiding from attackers or pursuers, since searching the street or a room wouldn't mean just a single look command, at the cost of being very much trapped until they move on.

I actually really like this idea, it would be very consistent with other mechanics too.

I'd give anything just for stealth to, at least at higher levels, allow you to withdraw/put away small objects without alerting the entire room. It's so silly.

Any kind of improvements on this (easily thwarted) skill would make me very happy, this idea I really love too let me dive behind dumpsters and into random vents or bushes damnit.
