IFAK Pouch
Middle of the road option 4 medical

After experimenting with medpaks and medical skill for a while, I don't really understand why they're a thing.

I've stopped a bleed once, and that used half the kit. Apparently this was a bug and was fixed.

The description of medpaks say that they they are stocked with the means to treat minor wounds.

But, with one single, old, injury, apparently, a brand new medpak doesn't have enough charge to help it?

I might just not understand the system or items, but I think they are kind of useless if a full charge, brand new large medpak can't heal a single wound and should be renamed to something like 'Suture Needle' or something, since that seems to be what they're for.

And, the original idea of this post now that I'm done bitching,

I think a middle of the road, like 5-10k or so, disposable or refillable IFAK pouch that can actually heal without using 110% of its charge would be a nice thing for medics and medically inclined characters to have between a medpak, kitbag, and clinic.

It would only heal, and maybe stop bleeds, but not revive, and not heal super well as to not invalidate a kitbag or doctor/clinic. But heal more than a medpak.

In regards to recent talk about about wanting to do more conflict and have less gear fear, more ways to heal yourself after bashing some bakas brains in would contribute to this.

What do you think about flipping the concept on its head? The IFAK could be something that individuals who are hoping to be treated by a medic can purchase and wear. Then, a medic could use the supplies within the IFAK on their patient to provide treatment. This moves the onus of having supplies from the medic to the patient.

Of course medics could still carry and utilize their own supplies but this could make it easier for medically inclined characters to provide on-the-spot treatment to those who need or want it without having to burn through their own supplies as much.

While I've never played a medical focused character based on the last few months of BGBB banter, it feels like the amount of medical supplies consumed during treatment may be in need of adjustment as well.

I'm for this idea.

Medkits, in my experience, have been exceedingly useless in most cases where I've tried to apply them. Their description says they are good for minor injuries, but they can't be used to treat minor injuries. The only time I've gotten use out of them is when a character is bleeding or very injured, which seems backwards to me. I'm not sure it's functioning right or just wonky with how the medical code functions.

The step between a medkit and a kitbag is massive in terms of price and ability so an inbetween step that's actually viable would be a nice change.

Kalii, that was fixed. Even Slither said it made no sense. And they are now considerably better.
I read to fast, disregard.
