Increase green crates payout

Double possibly even triple it. It takes an extremely higher amount of time than the other crates, but does not pay nowhere near enough to make it worthwhile for most people. Probably time to accept that not that much of playerbase got ~1-2h to spend on doing those anymore. And as it's still governed by weekly cap, I do not see any major issue coming from that.

Of course this can, and occasionally was propped by player income to get people to do them, but that's hardly a sustainable solution.

I agree that either the value of those payouts should increase or the courier just re-locates to Green Sector entirely. I feel it's often counter-productive to the new player experience to have what amounts of a (borderline) time-wasting activity be so similarly clothed as a regular one, so that they have to be essentially trained out of spending hours doing it based on the impression they should, but that also the Green Sector shop economy is dysfunctional without deliveries that players are not sufficiently rewarded for making.
To be fair, the main issue with green crates is that the mag-levs are awful and just a massive time waster for no real reason. I remember getting hammered with advice when I was starting out to just save up for a bike since the levs are so bad.

Sitting for 15-25 minutes waiting for a lev to rock up is not even remotely fun and it isn't opening up opportunities for theft or anything like that either for the same reasons.

I think the levs should just operate like 75% faster.

The point of levs being annoying is that you hustle up for some wheels, and that then also opens some extra work for people who do have bikes, vs levs.

Now whether driving being so important for any cross sector work is good for the game, maybe worth another thread.

They'd still be annoying while 75% faster. You still have to line up. You're still vulnerable in the train stations and on the actual lev itself. You've still got to wait for stops. They're never going to meet the convenience of a vehicle even if they straight up just teleported you there instantly. The chokepoints alone are enough.

People would still graduate out of needing the levs and they'd do it quickly, but they'd also get hustles like green crates done in the process instead of just sitting inside all day or tapping into the less movement-required hustles like shifting candy or whatever.

Please make a separate topic please? THis is much wider than crates.
I'm actually going to argue that it is not necessary. They can be done faster than waiting on the levs. They already pay considerably more than Red or Gold. Any Mixer that is running on Gold has the incentive to do at least one for the free ride back to Red.

This isn't to say I'm opposed to them being raised. It would benefit me as much as anyone else if the pay was raised, but it's really not necessary. Yes, on the Levs they take longer to do, and the time to pay ration isn't as good but the total earning potential per crate and per day is better than Red or Green.

I also agree that intersector travel constrictions are often working against other design intentions the game has, and sometimes the benefits of having them are not as great as they might've been in the past when the game had simpler gameplay and fewer players.

I've found it very hard in the past to convince a critical mass of staff that things that are intentionally time-wasting (with the intent that players seek out different options) are not great motivators overall compared to other incentives and gameplay pressures.

Crates saw a few light quality-of-life changes at one point so it may be possible to see some movement but the combination of slow, boring intersector travel and slow uninteresting delivery gameplay, both of which can eat up new player time if they don't know better to do otherwise, create a much duller first impression of the game than it really ought to have.

Green crates feel like a bait and switch for new players. It looks like a legit hustle but ends up being a time sink. The levs are painfully slow and the payout doesn’t match the grind. I get that it's supposed to push players to move up, but without any clear hint it just kills momentum. Relying on the player base to guide others through it isn’t sustainable, like Aida said. I’m not against the player-driven culture at all, but a simple in-game nudge would go a long way to set expectations and keep people from wasting hours figuring it out the hard way.
We just slashed all the prices down to nothing so people can afford their toys with their crate money.

Let's wait at least 18 to 24 months to see if that fixes anything before doing something as drastic as giving out more money to the players.

We're not really giving out more money by changing this. We're just making it faster to hit the automated income cap each week.
Please try to control + f the boards for other threads which already touch on these topics, so we don't rehash the same conversations over multiple years. Better to necro a thread and make your case (addressing any counterpoints previously brought up).

Which itself lists several other threads where this topic is discussed to one degree or another.

Because I am a dumb dumb I forgot there was still some level of freight going on so we won't go back to the old situation where sometimes shops just never get stocked. So I was wrong that the Green Sector shops are vulnerable to that dysfunction but I still think it would be better overall for there to be a little more incentive for characters to do cross-sector crate deliveries.

If not straight financial we could always do something that encourages players to go do more other stuff afterwards, maybe something like the lev passes lasting several hours so they'd be a way to take up a little bit of time while providing support to do more activities for the rest of the afternoon or night or morning as appropriate.

I've increased the payout rate for green. This was already 50% more than Gold payouts. It's now double the rate of gold.
I think this could be a positive change, and might actually be enticing against long haul couriers as well which could increase activity in the city itself overall!
