We are likely not going going to be adjusting PDS cap at this time. Lower prices on chrome does not mean the humanity cost of chopping away your flesh for it changes. That's my stance on a theme perspective. As far as PDS itself, there's already a good bit of room to install a variety of chrome builds. It doesn't take that long even for a new character to tolerate some chrome as long as they aren't trying to stuff their body with a bunch of high PDS pieces. It doesn't even take the two weeks the o.p. suggests so long as a new character invests in the right thing in chargen.
Furthermore, there are a number of ways to reduce PDS and/or stave off symptoms, and they stack.
And yes, I would personally like to see more people pushing the PDS limit and actually RPing appropriately (some of you do, thank you) when they hit it and especially when they go over it. Giving more room would do the opposite of that. Also, invasive PDS thought is the middle ground between not reminding players at all and forcing them to attack people when they go into an episode.
Finally, I agree that cyberdocs should be willing to blur the line with installs that give PDS, but that's a player culture thing. I think people should be taking more risks with their jobs in general instead of playing it safe (those of you that do play really safe).
Here's a hint that everyone (including cyberdocs) can use: the rules as you are given them from your NPC bosses etc. are meant to be broken. We want to see you break them in fun and creative ways and for your own gain. The trick isn't always in not being caught. It could be that you're so awesome/smart/clever/wealthy/useful etc. that you can get away it. And remember that being caught does not always mean losing your job (barring some really serious stuff usually). NPCs have their own goals, needs, ideologies, and vices - even your bosses. You can and probably should try to "reason" with them when you're in trouble or think you're in danger of being fired (unless you want to just give up and take the firing, that is). Not saying it will always work, but the option is there.
