There was a discussion around junkyard weapons at the Townhall. I'm putting this thread up to make suggestions.
Something that was rattling in my head: Chain knuckles. Essentially brass knuckles but it's just a thick chain with rubber and cloth padding to avoid hurting the user. It'd be a brawling weapon. Maybe slightly cheaper and less hard hitting than Brass knuckles.

This is already happening so I would highly suggest putting weapon suggestions here for builders to review.
While not junkyard weapons, I would really like see cyberweapons for every weapon skill.

Pretty sure Butako called for junkyard suggestions on xfix-it. It's not a part of the channel status, though.

A brick. bonus if you can damage with it being thrown. Major bonus if you can damage with it being thrown from a rooftop.

Just for consideration, at a loose count, melee has the most weapons in the game. Long_blade follows right after.

A short blade for noobs that is a shard of glass with some synthcotton wrapped around the handle, or a sharp tooth brush.

I think shotgun knuckles might be a bit OP…That's not really junkyard weapon. You'd need to know how a shotgun works to build a shotgun that works with a punch. It's cool yeah but not really Junkyard in my opinion. Junkyard weapons should be things you pick up in the yard. Glue together or smash together to make something else. Like the War fan blade. Simple. Sharpened metal.

I have already said no to shotgun knuckles. :P
I am also not making any junkyard guns.
But please keep the suggestions coming!

I do like the idea for short blades, I'm assuming that glass in the future isn't so much glass but some sort of Plexiglass or vinyl compound. A shard of that could be sharpened easily and form a short blade of some sort.
I'm trying to avoid Melee as i'm aware that melee has a lot of options and has one being developed in the future.
Maybe something for Martial Arts?
Long blade we already have one.
Guns are off the table.

I think someone suggested a rebar shank for short blades in the fix-it channel, which would be my favorite so far. Maybe a screwdriver.
You could probably fold and smash enough ebola cola or spurt cans together, bind them with something like grip tape, and then sharpen them into a shank if you wanted.

Screwdriver shank is actually a really cool idea!

The idea of stabbing someone with a bunch of spurt cans until they literally spurt is kind of funny to me. Conceptually, no one in the Park brushing their teeth because all of the toothbrushes keep getting filed down to stab people is also amusing.
I feel like I remember seeing milk cartons being used to make a shank in some show or movie, too.

we could have some really gruesome messages for a screwdriver

Brawler: Taxidermized Dune Dragon paws, do slashing/stabbing damage instead of blunt.

Long Blade: Adult dune dragon jaw with teeth attached. Really heavy, great sword-style instead of regular katana and machete.

Short blade: Adult rad-bear jaw with teeth attached.

Martial arts: Junkyard urumi, whip made out of dune dragon/sewer dragon claws and teeth, sewn together with resilient metal wires. Scorpion stinger at the end of the whip for crit hits. Slash damage. Heavy too.

Melee: A street sign with a chunk of permaconcrete still attached on the bottom, the signs vary in shapes, colors, and shapes. The edge of the street sign is sharpened. Slash, blunt. Really heavy.

I'm curious if the cost of these weapons is intended to sit around the one applied to the current weapon that was introduced. If it is, and cost translates to effectiveness, a screwdriver may not be appropriately menacing to upstage the likes of SpyderCos or Stilettos (I hate where stilettos currently sit on the objective totem pole, by the way. It makes no sense).

It really depends on how nice the weapon is, really. :)

I do not think brawling ever needs to have access to additional damage types, frankly. It would easily become the most effective combat skill in the game, rather than a supplemental one.

An ethicol or gelcell powered chainsaw as a junkyard heavy weapon would be lovely.

Maybe not as Rust-esque as some things here, but a simple kitchen knife would be a cool Short Blades option to have. Especially for a chef.
