I've noticed that skateboards are rarely used anymore and I myself stopped using them when they could no longer be used like normal vehicles minus tubes. So I was thinking. Why don't we introduce an new item.
The Magna-Hook(Name pending)
This item would only be usable in the entrances of the tubes where you can still stand. It would lock you into a waiting move for a vehicle to come along so you can latch on to it and hitch a ride.(Could be expanded to be usable everywhere if you really think about it.)
They had this in the book snow crash which is Cyberpunk novel. The character named Y.T(Yours truly) would do this and I think it would be a really nice way to get some use out of the skateboard.

This is a fucking cool idea for multiple reasons. Giving skateboards actual uses as essentially stealing transportation with a risk of fucking up and catastrophically failing and slamming into a wall is super cool, thematic, and defining.

Knew the reference before I even read the idea. I'm all for this so long as we don't refer to it as a 'poon' like in the book.

Something I forgot to add in my previous post forgive me; would be awesome if they could be used on player vehicles too. Maybe involve a skill check to get shaken off if the driver doesn't want you tagging along.

Love it. Want it. Don't tie it to the driving skill, not everyone wants to drive but gives another option to get topside without waiting on the levs..Sure it's dangerous but…Fuck it. Also perhaps make it illegal, that way if you're caught skitching to update your clone the Judges can fine your ass if you make it.

Is there a way to make sure this gets builder attention? Or is it all just up.in the air until the next town hall?

Honestly if anything is to be done with the skateboards involving coder time, maybe fixing them instead of inventing a brand new system code/mechanic/balance system to implement would be the better route to pursue.

This sounds fun. Make it work with traffic so boarders might get stuck waiting to move in tubes.

I just realized this could be used for a lot of crime too. A lot of reasons crime isn't more wide spread Icly is because going between sectors is slow for a lot of newly rolled pcs. Adding this would add another avenue for someone to do some robberies topside.

It would definitely be an interesting alternative to sewer express and buying rides.

I would also make skitching a movement based roll. You have to roll to hang on every room or every few rooms similar to how you'd roll to jump a gap or something. If we expand this to skitch on player-owned vehicles, speed of travel could be a factor in the roll.
And some damage if you slip/fall/etc.
Because hitting gravel at 30mph, losing control, and sliding on the pavement until your clothes are shredded and your left side is raw and bloody from hip to armpit is gnar gnar (I have 1st-hand experience lol).

Could be distance based like how close you are to the vehicle is how fast you go? Like how you ascend and descend a grappling hook but horizontally. Tie it to being more or less difficult. Hell Make it a little mini game. You have to find the sweet spot for each vehicle on a scale which you can slide by physically pulling in or letting out slack on the cable.
