Pause ambient income for leases
You're closed! Admin command suggestion.

A toggle to freeze ambient (weekly) income generation in the event of a business closure seems like something that should exist, in the event that the business is closed down forcibly or voluntarily for any reason.
I've had income blocked by plots twice and I can say it did not engender much trust.

I wouldn't personally want to standardize something like that, it's a slippery slope from having the switch to flip in the GM toolbox and someone subjectively down the line deciding there was too much blood or fire damage in a room and so nothing is earned.

This is already codified. We have a lease rating system that captures a number of different data points about how a lease is being managed (both automatically, and through GM input which is requested automatically at a regular cadence). If the lease is being actively managed in a productive way, the weekly profits will stay the same, or slowly increase until they hit the maximum allowed. If the lease is being poorly or inactively managed, the weekly profits will decrease over time until they hit a defined minimum.

This system is not instant and does not unfairly punish people for having to take a break from the game due to vacation, life events, burnout, etc. Just like in real life, if you've got a fully stocked shop, you can not stock it for a while and still be making money as you sell your remaining inventory. Or a bar that is popular, all the sudden stopping events and advertising, it will take people a while to realize it's not the same as it used to be before they stop attending it as much.

I suppose I could have elaborated a little more on the context.

When a business is explicitly closed, whether forcefully (employees vacated, extreme event, etc) or by leaseholder voluntarily "shutting down" the business, the business in question continues to generate ambient income on a weekly basis.

I don't think fire damage and such should necessitate an application. Just explicit closures.

Specific admin have the ability to do this already if the situation warrants. It's possible it's not being done, or the damage is not considered enough to warrant it.
I hAad no idea a lease's income could go up like that. That's pretty awesome.
Ask around icly, it can go up quite a bit to what you may think it is.
