A toggle to freeze ambient (weekly) income generation in the event of a business closure seems like something that should exist, in the event that the business is closed down forcibly or voluntarily for any reason.
I wouldn't personally want to standardize something like that, it's a slippery slope from having the switch to flip in the GM toolbox and someone subjectively down the line deciding there was too much blood or fire damage in a room and so nothing is earned.

This system is not instant and does not unfairly punish people for having to take a break from the game due to vacation, life events, burnout, etc. Just like in real life, if you've got a fully stocked shop, you can not stock it for a while and still be making money as you sell your remaining inventory.
I suppose I could have elaborated a little more on the context.
When a business is explicitly closed, whether forcefully (employees vacated, extreme event, etc) or by leaseholder voluntarily "shutting down" the business, the business in question continues to generate ambient income on a weekly basis.
I don't think fire damage and such should necessitate an application. Just explicit closures.
