Private SIC Rewind
For those with bad connections

I live in a rural area with pretty bad connections, either through Starlink or cell service, and I often lose connection for a few seconds at a time which causes me to then have to log in again, etcetera, which can be troublesome in the middle of a private SIC conversation.

I feel that it has been suggested before, maybe for public SIC, but I think the past few private SIC messages, maybe two or three, should be stored on the SIC chip to be referenced with a command. This can have a clear IC explanation as a quality of life feature, since SIC messages are not text and someone may need a thought ran by them again to make sure they understood it. OOC, it would be a lifesaver for those with spotty connections who don't know if they missed any critical messages.

Ever since RPInfo was upgraded two years ago and I learned it stored the previous XHELPs made by players I've thought it could be a ready way to buffer the last handful of private SICs to read back, either from disconnects or for whatever reason.

My understanding is looking up data stored here is now super fast since the upgrades and while these strings are maybe potentially a little longer than some information, they wouldn't really be called up by players very often but could really help with connection uncertainty and limit the 'anyone SIC me in the last hour?' type of situations.

I'd prefer this to be an IC feature maybe. Though it was changed some, it used to be that certain data was stored on the chip. If this was introduced I'l prefer it to be an IC feature that stores the last X private SICs and you can pull it up. I'd even be okay if it did private SICs and SICs to keys on your chip.

I'd personally prefer for that number to be a s small as possible while still useful for the example given by batko. This soft disconnect thing with SIndome is a nightmare for RP and since I don't think that will ever go away (don't think it's a MOO issue, more of a networking feature), this could help a lot. I would just prefer it to cover this specific situation and not much more.

Soft disconnects really are a killer, yeah. Especially around conflicts where missing a SIC might mean you go through with some nefarious plan to kill someone or not, or if you're not sure if someone did ever reach out so you have to throw out the terribly awkward 'Try again if you tried contacting me in the past blah blah blah.'
One trick I use to help with this: If you're using the webclient and you get disconnected, you can log back in while preserving your log by changing your network connection, either by turning it off then back on or changing to a different network.
