Repair tool
Tighten those screws

Snowballing off the recent changes to cleaning messes, I think it'd be cool if repairing damage was only able to be done with some kind of tool like a wrench that WCS gets (not faction locked or anything though) as it's a little bit weird how everyone can fix floors with their bare hands. Maybe even have a skill check involved.
I mean room damage by the way just to be clear that happens after explosions and other things.
I think this is also a good idea because it makes the explosion or fire meaningful aside from a short disturbance that messed up your pants.
It is a good idea. One I've had the thought of over the time. It always upsets me, very deeply, so greatly, incredibly much, when I set people's apartments on fire and they immediately stand up and stomp out the fire then immediately wipe away the rubble with no further RP.

I somewhat know how the act system works for stuff now, so I can definitely do something on this at some point in the future.

I am fond of giving this work to immigrants, so adding equipment requirements sounds counterproductive to this. Maybe it should be a game culture focus to not immediately remove all damage yourself.
I think a cooldown on repairing and thus forcing people to deal with the consequences of fire damage would accomplish the same thing without the need of adding more things for WCS.
I know I've suggested these ideas before..

-Fire damage disables all services in the room. Bartenders ain't serving in the middle of a charred husk. Stores ain't selling product while shit is being picked up.

-Macguffin like timers to clean up a fire. Yeah, it would take about ten minutes of cleaning up to "fix" the aftermath of a small fire. But yeah, you're cleaning up. Feel free to RP out cleaning up while you're mechanically cleaning up.

-More serious fire damage would require a tool of some sort. Like the one being mentioned. Though mine was more standard gear like wrecking bars or sledge hammers to pry up burned boards to perform or light construction work.

-I was going to suggest maybe Falco Construction sell actual construction materials that are needed to repair fire damage. Something you can send an immie to go get or something.

I remain of the opinion that it is the players that choose to have their characters acknowledge the damage that makes it meaningful, and not any system.

I can see people just allowing fire damage to accumulate around the map if a specific tool is required.

Timer would probably be the idea I'd throw my weight behind, if only because it's a bit disappointing when the fire is suppressed and damage cleaned up before you can even walk across the map, sometimes.
