I think eating/drinking/smoking/snorting through a helmet should be impossible. Maybe some helmets have a mouth hole, but a lot of them clearly say that they cover the whole face, with some others making it clear that they're air tight.
I think it would be a nice touch for people to have to remove their helmets if they want to party hardy. Adds a layer of vulnerability that currently doesn't exist.

I'm pretty sure that's already a thing, no?

Nope, slam beers through helmets all day currently.

Agree with this. There have been times where I haven't even realized one of my characters had a helmet on while I was chain-smoking. If it's possible, would like a coded reminder.

Weird. I distinctly remember being told I couldn't eat or drink something because I was wearing something that covered my face @naked.

Ya shouldn't be able to see smiles through them either but ya do!

Some kind of code that invisibles smiles and grins would be awesome, but seems like a lot of work.

Any airtight equipment over the face will prevent you from eating or drinking. I think the assumption is that any non-airtight face covering is pliable enough to move out of the way for a sip or bite.
A more considerable effect on face-concealing disguise longevity from eating and drinking would be nice though. Helmets, masks, ponchos, hoodies, and so on.

As far as I'm aware there's not really any way for the game to distinguish between items with coverage of the face versus items that
cover the face, other than the air-tight flag, so eating and drinking for the former ends up with loads of stuff that shouldn't interfere starting to interfere when it shouldn't.
This is an area that feels to me like it's better to be permissive to allow for the most flexibility and just roleplay where appropriate.

Modern IRL airtight masks (like military gas masks) have locking open/close straws built in.
I feel like no helmet/mask should not allow you to easily eat (or eat at all) unless it comes with an expose face risk each time. Drinking? Hand-wave built in straws and carry on imo. It's old tech in the era of Withmore.

Sorry for the double negative (and double post). I mean no helmet should allow…etc etc.

Even if there is no way of telling which helmets are open faced and which aren't currently, it's not crazy to add a simple prop to the generics of the helmets we have. We don't have hundreds of them. Once the prop is added (if it's even needed), you can add the restriction. I would be a fan of this restriction.

What a misdirected waste of development time it would be to preoccupy ourselves with blocking interactions based on a limited imagining of what interactions or roleplay is possible. Players so often are given open ended tools and experiences and decide their interpretation and perception is the
only valid one and all other experiences must be enforced along the same lines, favouring strict rules that produce the same outcomes every time over emergent, dynamic experiences.
I just flat out don't understand the attitude of having an object and sitting down to decide all the things it might prevent or inhibit in roleplay and then spending the time to enshrine that mechanically without an obvious balancing demand being proven out. We should really be embracing the free form possibility of a system that doesn't define every behaviour to players ahead of time, and leaves it up to them to express as they want.
