Just like the idea for a daemon to capture and collect data from emails, there should be a daemon that does the same thing for text messages on a phone.

I know there may be a device that does something similar, but it is my opinion that the device should be used to target phone calls, while the daemon targets text messages with the same constraints as I proposed for emails.

That is, you receive jumbled or blanked out letters and words, and gain more clear words the higher your Cracking skill is. Additionally, such a daemon should survive for a much shorter amount of time compared to a regular Daemon.

Apart from this, deckers being able to dip into SIGINT and intercept comms (phone calls / texts / whatever) in/around their location would be cool. Kinda like a Minds Eye but for grid connected devices.

I like that immensely. Like a daemon they can turn on for just a few hours and only works within the local area where as my original idea focuses on just a single target for a time or something.

With the two ideas combined, daemons could have true and genuine paydata collection value.

Just had another idea! There could be a geocoded version of this as well. Originally when I read your idea of capturing all texts / emails / phone calls in an area, my mind imagined that being a temporary thing moving along with the decker.

But what if this is something a decker just drops in a room remotely and stays static to that specific room. That adds three varieties to this.

Direct, targeted.
Static, area.
Dynamic, moving area.

And all of them are daemons, that record the data to logs.. The last version should definitely be around the same level of complexity as something like the #grid-null-sic-id command, in my opinion.
