[June '26] Improvements Feedback
Feedback from June 2026 changes

Feedback thread!
I remember making a suggestion that smoking should be addictive many, many years ago and being told that my idea was "lame" and "would get in the way of RP" or something. glad to see its a thing now because i mean why not
You live in the Mench era now.
Since smoking is addictive now, though, it would be neat if it nicotine also affected stats, even if it's just a tiny, barely-matters-at-all bonus/debuff. Maybe to luck, because it makes you feel more relaxed? Who knows.
Is being addicted to nicotine also against the law in the same way that it is for other drugs?
Nah. But cigarettes aren't bad for you in the cyberpunk future.
Smoking certain brands should give you a charisma buff with an agility debuff and certain brands should give you a charisma debuff with an endurance buff.

Some brands are just that cool and some brands just make you stinky but toughen your lungs up!

agility debuff makes sense. even if cigarettes arent "bad" for you anymore i mean theyre still not good for you. black deths especially i can see giving you an agility and charisma debuff because your lungs are full of tar and you smell like awful cigarettes
Why do we need buffs or debuffs, can't people just smoke it as RP?
sure, i was just saying it'd be neat to have. im not too bothered one way or the other about it having buffs or debuffs
Because smoking is cool and it should be rewarded?
^^^ this
Might be worth pointing out, I think cigarettes don't have a "drug name" (and possibly addiction messages?). currently @stats will just say "[!] Addicted to ", while it should probably say "nicotine" or something.

Addiction messages like other drugs have would make sense, too, assuming they aren't already there.

@bug it for mench to fix, since he added this.
I'm not wholly sure if adding nicotine as a scripted addiction was a net positive. You get hooked on one cigarette now and appear completely indiscernible from any other kind of addiction once you start going into withdrawal. The cigarette scent thing is real nice but them making you significantly dirtier per smoke is super annoying.
I like cigarettes being addictive, but they seem to lack any withdrawal messaging (unless I just haven't seen them yet, though I think I should've by now) and, yeah, one or two cigarettes making you Filthy seems a bit excessive.
Nevermind, there do seem to be withdrawal messages. I do still agree that smoking affecting your "long-term" smell is a bit excessive, though. The temporary scent is a nice touch, but the fact it makes your character smell sweatier overall even after just one or two cigarettes is a bit much.
Will look at updating the numers tonight, if I remember.
The idea of making hair as a sort of @naked, where the color of the text matches your hair color seems appealing.
So while I think it's cool to be able to be a bum or a vagrant as any gender, it makes identifying people more difficult. You are at an advantage codedly by shortdesc changing to one of these two new shortdescs, because you're not androgynous, male presenting or female presenting. I think it might be better to make these shortdescs androgynous so there's not a coded advantage to being a bum or vagrant?

I saw this used today on a disguised person.

I know this is a touchy subject for some, but I saw a coded advantage that doesn't seem quite fair in comparison with all other shortdescs today.
So while I don't see anything actually in the changes thread, this seems the most appropriate place to comment on this.

Several days ago, I recall seeing an OOC shout that furniture and such would become locked on someone being evicted. Wouldn't this potentially have the drawback of pads could theoretically eventually get to where they have all the furniture they need, resulting in people not needing to purchase furniture (either new or second-hand), and thus stagnating that part of the economy?

There's other areas of play that could be heavily affected by this change too, I feel. Can we get some idea as to why that change was made?
@Aera
The change to furniture was originally made quite a while ago to stop people from doing apartment lottos since it was leading to issues, not all of it was locked correctly though & the shout was because that got fixed.
What happens if you move into a pad that has an ugly art installation you don't want, are there IC ways to get that taken down?
You could reach out to the building management about it.
