And I'm trying to pay as much attention to Sindome as I can but sometimes I get busy wthout warning. If I take more then a minute to reply I'm super sorry, but I'm trying to get stuff done and get back to it.
I just had a character get killed while I was AFK to let my cat outside so you know, give people a minute.

There's a command that could help you out if you suddenly have to go AFK.

This is specifically one of the reasons for the OOC lounge (@ooc). If you have to step AFK while in a non-safe location.

And if I know I have to go for more then like, 2 or three minutes (say to the bathroom) I usually use it. In this case I walked down the front hall to let the cat out. It only took about a minute.

I was under the impression that one of the basic guidelines was 'give people a little bit to respond". I was not afk for five minutes and came back dead. I stood up, walked away with no one in the area, walked back, and my character was almost dead. In the span of less then sixty seconds. I'm just saying not all of us are able to sit and stare at Sindome, I keep it running on my laptop while I do research/homework/whatever on my main comp.
I will take it in stride if that is not the guideline but I'm just trying to let people know I cannot always respond instantly.

If somebody has a reason to kill your character, they're under no obligation to do it when it's convenient for you, or to reveal themselves from their hiding spot and then stand around waiting for you to react. The RP that surrounds a hit does not necessarily happen during the hit itself.
It sucks, but if you are in a non-secure location, that is a risk you take going afk without going @ooc, even if it's just for a minute.

Agree with Xenode. The Mix is the Mix, situational awareness is called for ICly and OOCly.
And it's CP. Even outside the Mix you can't count on not being fucked with.
