Holographic Touchpads
Now floating on a kiosk near you!

As reported on the NYTimes here, Holographic keypads.

I'm guessing this will eliminate the need for Telephone sanitizers because people won't be pressing the buttons… they'll be putting their finger in the general vicinity of the button which is floating in mid air.

I wonder sometimes if were not doomed to face the same fate as the Golgafrincham because of our obsessiveness with needless technology.

how dare you say there is such a thing as useless technology!

Like…that's the opposite of everything your industry of programming and engineering  holds dear!

That couldn't be farther from the truth.

The evolution of technology happens not because someone enjoys doing it, but because it serves a very real need.

Take Sindome for instance… It serves a very real purpose: To provide Johnny and his cadre with a playground in which they can excercise their coding muscles in a way which is both useful in a real world sense, and fun. Were it simply for creating new technology for the sake of creating new technology, it would have gotten scraped a long time ago. There's even a community built around the very premice: People who enjoy playing within the virtual realm created by said technology for personal enjoyment and enrichment.

But really the better question is: Why am I telling you this? I'm a programmer defending technology and I'm talkin about Chewbacca. Does that make sence? Ladies and Gentlemen, I am not making any sense. None of this makes sense. And you have to remember that when considering this topic: It dosn't make sense. If Chewbacca lives on Endor you must aquit. I know it seems pointless, but ladies and gentlemen, this is Chewbacca. Now think about that for one minute. That does not make sense. Why am I talking about Chewbacca when the topic is technology? Why? I'll tell you why: I don't know. It dosn't make sense. If Chewbacca does not make sense, you must aquit.

The defense rests.
