We wanted to address a trend that we’ve noticed happening over the past few weeks of players using the SIC network as a chatroom and also various instances of players bringing real-world memes or jokes onto the SIC network as well.
On the first point, we understand that players may want to connect or blow off some steam. If you feel the need to chat outside of the immersion of the game, please join the OOC chat channel. If you wish to chat in-game, you can, but please keep it themely. We’ve received multiple complaints from other players regarding immersion-breaking comments. We highly encourage you to use the OOC chat channel instead of flooding the SIC network if you’re simply looking to find some OOC conversation.
On the second point, please pay attention to what you’re saying in character. The world of Sindome and our own diverged in 1999, leading to vastly different timelines. Any real-world references or memes post-2000 likely never happened in the world of Withmore. To be clear, this doesn’t mean you should look up all the cultural references before 1999 to simply skirt the rules. The chances that your character is an expert in now-ancient culture are incredibly low, given it’s 2109. Beyond that, this is also a reminder to play to your character’s stats/skills. If you aren't sure if your character should know something, please ask us on xhelp.
If anyone is saying something on the SIC network that treads on the above, please feel free to xhelp staff about it.
We want to create an immersive community together, and that also means remembering to separate out the OOC from the IC.
