Daemons are long running programs that are developed using the systems skill. They can be attached to your term, or to devices, or (if it has been implemented) to nodes.
They keep an eye on what they are running on and let you know if something happens to them like the ice being cracked, or the device being probed.
Daemons have ICE and can be destroyed or even taken over.
