The 'sever' command begins the act of removing a limb from a living player character.
It is important to remain still while performing the act and not do anything to interrupt it. (It gets interrupted easily.) When the act finishes, it will produce a limb that will begin decaying immediately.
You cannot consent to having your limbs removed.
It's also possible for severing to happen spontaneously in combat.
